Recently started collecting Marvel Legends figures and I finally completed my first Build a Figure. While working on completing this build a figure I got inspiration to customize action figures. My question is, is it possible to remove the arms and legs and put them on a different marvel legends figure? The same goes for the Masters of the universe classic figures?
I want to make a unique character of my own, however there's for example boots on one Marvel Legends figure that I would like, however the pants on another look better than the ones that have the boots.
Hopefully this question makes sense? I want to try my own customization but I surely don't want to break any of them.
Definitely make use of the tutorial section, it's an indispensable resource for information you won't find anywhere else (that I've seen, lol!). A thing I like to do, as well, is use the search function to view completed customs. I'm able to get an idea what other people have done in making a particular figure (base, other parts used, sometimes descriptions of the process which may include tips or ideas I was not aware of, etc.) or possibilities for a base figure when I have no idea what to do with it.
First off, congrats on starting your first custom!
Okay, to start with, it is possible to remove arms and legs, but the methods needed to do so will vary depending on what part of the figure you are removing. For example, most Legends figure arms can be easily removed at the elbows and upper arms, as they are usually made of softer plastic than the shoulders.
Next, I'm going to have to break your heart, but you need to know: if you are going to take up customizing, you are going to have to break some of your figures. Some parts of the figures(usually the shoulders and hips) are attached to hard plastic bodies, making it necessary to break, or crack the figure in order to remove the limbs. You've heard of breaking eggs for an omelet? .
I promise though, the reward is more than worth it when you're looking at your newly completed figure with pride.
Now as for putting different arms and legs on other figures, keep in mind that different figures can have different sized leg and arm pegs, and may need some modification to attach them to other bodies.

I've looked at a lot of the customs so far and they're so good, I'd buy some. haha
Thank you again for the responses.
And of course it's always nice to have new peeps get into the hobby
