Hi all, I'm wondering if there was anyone who could repaint a Black Series Jango Fett for me as I'm a complete novice. It's mainly his armour I'm wanting repainted including his helmet so that it's much "cleaner" and without all the weathering Hasbro applied. Would love it to look really sharp like the Figuarts version, with a genuine metal looking sheen to it. I'm after as professional a job as possible so air-brushing would probably be preferred. ...I'd also love the helmet's T-shaped visor painted with a gloss, again, like the Figuarts figure if that's possible. And maybe some shading/wash or minor detailing to the face/head sculpt to improve it a little. New eyebrows would be a good start hahaha. Thanks very much! Would be very grateful for any replies or suggestions. Jamie.
I use a black basecoat simply because the metal pops more against it, you can also control how "bright" the metal gets by brushing on less/more coats of the metal.
You'll probably have to water down any paint a little bit, just depends on how thin they are to begin with. Practice on a scrap toy to get used to painting.
DrNightmare - That's brilliant mate thank you so much! I'd only read yesterday that a black gloss would be best for an undercoat so you've just confirmed that for me hehe. I'll head to the Testors site now and check out their colours. I've also heard to water paint down to achieve a more smooth look (less brush strokes). Does that sound right to you??
I remember liking Testor's Steel, it looks like metal if you paint it smoothly enough. Base coat the armor bits with black, then brush some light coats of the Steel on top until you're happy with how bright it gets.
Folk Art makes some nice metallic paints, maybe try their Silver. This figure uses their Sapphire Blue
After checking out Testors "Steel" it looked fairly dark...maybe too dark for what I was after. I definitely want to go with a "steel" looking finish though to give the armour a little realism instead of just silver paint. ...Do you think the Testors "Steel" would still be ok or a little too dark for what I was after? Again, I'm after the approx brightness/shine of the S.H Figuarts version; Thanks again mate!
I've decided to try both the Steel and an Aluminium colour say, on each foot to see how they look. I've got some soft sable hair brushes and will water the paint a little while just applying small amounts to aim for a nice finish. VERY grateful for all your time DrNightmare!
DrNightmare - Thanks heaps for that. I've never painted before but think I will give it a go myself. Good to hear you say it should be fairly easy. Appreciate that feedback. Thanks mate.
That sounds like an easy job, no airbrush needed. You could probably do it real quick. Just get some Aluminum or "Chrome", or whatever finish you want and paint away all the weathering. A small brush to apply some Gloss Black or just some Gloss Sealer and that takes care of the visor.

"Realism" is going to depend on how you paint it, just don't glob it on and you'll be off to a good start.
Thanks for posting a reference pic, that armor looks a lot more like Aluminum so I'd go that route.
