flight stands

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

Anyone know of a good place for DCUC sized flight stands? I've seen the whippy superpose ones but they never seem to be on ebay anymore and not sure where else to find them. Anyone know of them or something comparable? Just don't like the Mattel ones.

As promised, my "improvement":

I took one of these c-hooks:

Then using the heat from a candle to shape it, my dremel to cut off excess, and a hole drilled for the coat hanger portion, I came out with this:

Important notes here, I held the hook over the flame, not in it, I held it with a pair of needle nose pliers so I wouldn't get burned and I wore a leather glove on my other hand so that I could shape the hook into a smaller "c" shape. If you are going to do this please wear leather work gloves to prevent burns. Only hold the hook over the flame for a few seconds at a time, allow time for it to cool after working it, you won't get it shaped in one go. Take your time, don't let the plastic melt or burn.

Some pics of it in action:

Here, it is hung from a nail in the wall:

I like the look of these, I have one problem with them though, it looks like you have to cleverly place them and balance the figure on them, which could lead to the figure easily falling off.

Right, so going with the idea that I shouldn't critize something if I can't do better, I've come up with a solution to my concern. I've bought some clear plastic "shower curtain c-hooks" and I am in the process of heat shaping them into clips that can be added to the coat hanger stands to hold a figure at the waist. I'll post some pictures of the completed improved stands tomorrow night after I buy the coat hangers.

I just made a few and they work ok. Will even hold up that new Thor and he's pretty big. Here's Superman:

Those look really cool and inexpensive. Thanks for the link. I need stands in bulk, so this fits the bill.
