More LEGO joint ideas

Started this today as a challenge to find a compact way to create armored articulated shoulders using LEGO. This is V.1:

And this is the V.2 design I settled on because it lets the shoulder piece lay flat:

The shoulders have a full range of movement though obviously the joint looks clunky and mechanical. Luckily that's part of this character's design since she has mechanical arms.

The shoulder piece is simply Speed Demon's butterfly joint, I cracked the torso to pull it out then popped the peg into the arm, it's a perfect fit with no modding necessary.

I wanted to use a barbell piece instead for this figure, but it would have made her shoulders too wide. Male figures should be easier to work with since they have wider shoulders, giving you more room to work with so you can use a wider variety of parts.

I two have been incorperating legos in to my designs. Are you finding the joints strong enough to hold the weight of the plastic arms or do they fall limb to her sides?

They're strong enough, I'm guessing they'll get looser as time goes on but a drop of super glue to add friction fixes that
