Hi everyone, I'm new here on figurerealm but I've heard of the website ever since I was like 8. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out if there's a certain epoxy that is used when creating certain pieces of armor like tabards and/or belts. Is there? I am trying to create an armor piece that is bendable so it does not restrict figure movement, similar to that of the predator figures. I, personally do not want to use already-made accessories only because my upcoming project is to be made without those
I like using varying thicknesses of sheet foam. Eva foam and such. I get on eBay cheap from china. And also leather can be quite versatile and takes to glue well.
Thanks a bunch for understanding however, I'm still a little confused. So how exactly are cloaks/tabards/armor pieces made to be flexible? (Like you said with latex) would the latex rip easily though? I'm trying to create soft armor pieces, like a loincloth in between the thighs.
If you're making simple stuff like loincloths or belts, you can just sculpt it with something like Apoxie Sculpt, then make a hard pushmold by pressing it into Sculpey or more Apoxie Sculpt.
Then, brush a few layers of liquid latex into the mold until its the thickness you want, then yank it out and paint and you're done. You can use glue or some string to attach it to the figure.
You might notice people talking about ProCreate being able to stay flexible when mixed in a certain ratio, but I doubt it'll hold up to as much flexing as a skirt piece needs. I wish people would go into more detail on what the limits of it are, though I actually have a small case of it and just haven't found the need to use it yet.
These may be useful, you can probably adapt them to your needs
