Maestro Hulk has always been one of my favorite characters and when I recently got a Toybiz Maestro figure I know I wanted to make some changes and improve on it if I could by adding some height. I ordered a new figure to work on and when I was testing the articulation the thing BROKE AT THE TORSO SWIVEL. Needless to say I panicked and it changed my plans from a quick leg swap to an almost complete overall. So I dug through my fodder bin and found some useful parts that made up my recipe. RECIPE Upper Torso: Toybiz Maestro Figure Lower Torso: Abomination BAF Legs: Juggernaut BAF PROCESS Once I had decided on my parts the real challenge began. I knew that I wanted to incorporate the Abomination's ab crunch to my figure if I could while still keeping the awesome upper body from the original figure. I took my dremel and slowly and carefully cut away the top of the abomination figure working my way down to just before I hit the ab crunch. I also cut away small portions of the original's upper torso, all the while checking their fit. Once all the cutting was done the front of the upper torso met the lower torso perfectly but due to the fact that the figures are a different thickness the back of the upper torso sat in the small socket inside of the back of the lower torso. In order to make sure that the two pieces were secure, I put in 3 screws to connect the back side and super glued the front. Next came the sculpting. I used Aves Apoxy sculpt to smooth out the ab section, and fill in the huge gap in the back, first making the general shape, and then going back and adding texture to match the original figure. The abomination figure has some great texture as well so that cut down on sculpting. With my extra apoxy I also went ahead and filled in the peg holes around the figure. The juggernaut legs had to be cut down at the top and since one of the pegs on the abomination legs is smaller I had to fill the socket by adding hot glue. Finally it was down to painting. I mixed my own paint using a few shades of green and yellow to match the original figure, added a dark wash to get the detail in my sculpt and some highlights and he was done! He now stands much taller than the toybiz version, and has added articulation! Let me know what you think. ![]() |
