Bertram Larvan (it was the 60's so his real name had to tie into his villainous moniker!) was a brief villain for Ray Palmer, the Atom. He was a brilliant inventor who create mechanical bugs, but lacked the funding, so he began a life of crime to fund his science. This led to several altercations with the Atom, who successfully thwarted him repeatedly, including one time when he accidentally used his amnesiac gas on himself, forgetting his villainy and the secret identity of the Atom.

In the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Marv Wolfman mentioned him as one of the many characters he decided to kill because "he couldn't be in a company that would print (him)." I don't know if was it the Bug-Eyed part, but I guess Marv didn't like him much.

This was a commission, which thankfully for once, didn't involve any body part swaps as he's made straight up from a DCUC Yellow Lantern Sinestro. His legs fins and collar were made from moldable plastic, while his gauntlets and cowl were sculpted. Gauge wire were used to create his unique antennae to complete the outfit of a rather unique looking, if not obscure, character. In recent years a second BEB, his son, has made several appearances with relatively the same villainous success, or lack there of.
