So I recently went back and ordered the rest of the Forever Evil figures, and I knew when I did that I wanted to finish off the rest of the team. However, Grid's a pretty basic custom, and I didn't want to post him separately. Just to knock him out, Grid is a New 52 Cyborg with repainted "lights" and a 3d printed head based on the Grid model from Injustice 2.

Sea King, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated.

-DC Essentials Aquaman base
-Marvel Legends Scorpion left arm
-DC Multiverse Aquaman Movie figure belt and lower right arm.
-DC Multiverse Hobo Aquaman (the Justice League store exclusive) head.
-Actual seashell I repainted
-3d printed Hook

While I mostly took my cue from Forever Evil's design, I'm a sucker for the classic orange/green color scheme, so I made my version more in line with that. Additionally, when inspecting some of the details, the belt was very similar in design to what ended up being used for the Aquaman movie design, and I was inspired to take the more complex gloves from that design as well.

However, while I wanted to use the Momoa head sculpt from the same figure (Not only does Momoa feature a similar hairstyle to the 0s design that inspired his original look, Momoa's eyebrows complimented the damage to Sea King's left eye), I realized that the head sculpt for that figure has the hair much more "wet"... appropriate for the film, but not what I was looking for. I ultimately went with the Shirtless figure, since both it and the regular Justice League release shared the same head sculpt and it was the cheaper option.

Scorpion's arm was a bit on the small side to work with the DC Essentials base body, but I knew with the seashell shoulder pad and hook hand it wouldn't be that noticeable. The Sea shell shoulder pad was a real sea shell from Michaels, dremeled out and painted with Pearlescent paint that I was unable to really capture with my phone camera.

Finally, the tip of the hook was a 3d model I made and printed, sculpted over to blend it into the arm. Sculpted the collar and other details, and painted.

Both look really good. I really like the head on the grid. But that sea king is absolutely beautiful. I especially like the use of an actual seashell.
