So many Deadpool waves, and still no T-Ray! I had a repainted Toybiz AoA Sabretooth as my T-Ray for ages, but decided to do a better version. This is the first time I've really planned a custom, and deliberately searched for figures I could use, rather than just going by who I already had lying around. I got hold of a Grey Gargoyle and then swapped his lower legs and hands with Malekith. I shaved his moustache and hair off and gave him a plaster on his nose, and a trimmed Malekith's hair. I had a few bits lying around - the sword & sheath from Deadpool, the coat from the Suicide Squad Boomerang guy, and I think the little skull on his belt might have come from a Toybiz Mystique. I can't remember where the ponytail came from, but it could be from the AoA Sabretooth... This was also the first time I really took care to take the figure apart wherever I felt confident enough, and sand down the joints, and to paint thin layers bit by bit. It takes longer, but it really does pay off! You can see in my old figures that I have a tendency to be impatient, and this guy is more poseable and doesn't (so far) have any paint rub. I'm happy that even though this is probably a fairly easy custom for lots of people, I put the work in and I would say it's one of the best ones I've done. I'm not really looking to become a professional customiser or anything, but I always want to be able to improve, so if you like something about the way I've done a custom, please tell me so I can do that more. And if you think I could have done something better, tell me, and if you've got suggestions on how to improve I'd love to hear them!! ![]() |
