It’s been a long while since I’ve posted a custom here since I’ve been busy with work and other stuff but since the pandemic hit, I had the time to go back to this wonderful hobby that we all share here in the Realm. I will be posting my own MCU Avengers OG6 customs in the succeeding days. So first up is my version of Iron Man. My vision started when I saw the Endgame Mark 85. Obviously, they were going for the classic Model 4 look but modernized for the MCU. I wanted to have an Iron Man that is similar to the Model 4 as well, however, I personally don’t like the armors that were shaped like a real body like the 85 and the 50. I wanted a more armored look. That’s why I made him using the Iron Man 2 Mark IV “Legends”. Although it might seem like a simple repaint, I made a few adjustments for the figure to have my preferred look and function. The main thing I disliked about the Mark IV figure was how the shoulder pads were placed. They were movable to give way for the upper arm articulation but still hindered full arm rotation as it hinged up and down from the shoulder. So to remedy that, I removed them, modded their shape (to maximize articulation), and attached them to the biceps instead. This way, the shoulder pads no longer hindered articulation but still provided an armored shoulder/arm look. Another minor issue for me was the way the armor plate on the hands hindered the articulation required for the signature Iron Man blasting pose. I then made the decision to trim the armor plates to prioritize posing and articulation over the clean look. Luckily, I also have a Mark VI figure which had the exact same set of hands as the Mark IV so use those for other poses that required the clean unaltered look. Also, I painted Infinity Stones on the extra right hand set as a bonus accessory. Once the hands were good to go, I drilled holes on the open-palmed hands as well as on the feet and modded Revoltech Iron Man blast effects to fit the holes. Although I prefer the older marks for their bulkier look, I do like the nano-tech aspect of the 50 and 85 so I guess my version still uses the nano-tech but the armor is programmed to form the Mark IV design. So given that, I wanted to have an accessory that can be placed on his back (similar to the one he used alongside Thor). I then gathered some pieces of knock-off Lego build-able figures and attached the blaster/cannon accessories that came with the Marks IV and VI to create my own version of Iron Man’s back blaster attachment. I drilled a small hole on the figure’s back so that the accessory can be securely placed for posing. I still wasn’t satisfied with the blast effects and the back attachment so I went the extra mile and made my own version of the Proton Cannon from the Marvel VS Capcom games. I thought to myself “Hey, the figure came with gripping hands, why not use them?” I started with a generic space gun from an old toy for the handle, attached an old water gun accessory from a Spider-Man figure for the body, and then added various Lego build-able figure pieces for the barrel and other exterior sections. I then painted the whole thing black with a silver finish for a sort of gun metal look. To complete the accessories I took the Stark heads from my Revoltech Marks 2 and 3 and modded the hair to resemble a modern comic Stark look. One head is a regular Stark head while the other one has the nano-glasses made from a thin plastic material. I then applied the final paint to resemble the Model 4 and my version of Iron Man is complete! ![]() |
