Freddy Kruger Sinestro Corps (DC Universe) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:10714
Name:Freddy Kruger Sinestro Corps
Contest:Sinestro Corps
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:DC Universe
Creator:Briightcore Toys
Date Added:October 31, 2008
Base Figure:DCU Sinestro Variant
Height:6.50 inches
Kruger lives long past his natural life by drinking in the misery he causes and the fear he generates. He Lives for the sheer terror in the eyes of his victims as they face their inevitable deaths at his merciless blades.

::Recipe:
-A "Cinema of Fear" Series Freddy Kruger figure (From A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: "Dream Warriors" film)
-A DC Universe Sinestro (Yellow Variant)
-Apoxie Sculpt
-A good dremel
-Gel-type Superglue
-Vallejo paints and Matte Varnish

::How to:
I cut the ball-neck base from the Kruger figure's primary head, and dremmeled out its inside. I removed the head, hands, and collar from the DCU figure.
After dremeling down the Sinestro figure's neck, I flipped the burnt-flesh shell of Krugers neckpiece upside down, and superglued it around the DCU figure's neck. It fit perfectly - the ragged edge was covered by a modified collar. I dremmeled out Krugers head, sanded down and resculpted the edges.
I also reconstructed the pegs from the Kruger figure's hands to fit the DCU pegshape.
I gave the figures armbands the classic alternating Green/Red of the characters trademark sweater, and use that motif on other aspects of the uniform. I sealed it with a matte finish varnish. I use Vallejo paints, as they are far more durable/adhesive than Citadel brand paints.
* * *

I've wanted to do a Kruger custom for a while now. When the DCU alt. Sinestro appeared, I knew I had to merge my vision of an articulated Freddy with the DC universe. :)

::Why Kruger?
After reading the Sinestro Corp. Wars comics, I noticed a trend toward oddball aliens who incorporated 'fear' somehow into their daily regiment. Creepy, but not exactly fear-inducing. Freddy Kruger, from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series scared me senseless one evening watching cable TV. His burnt visage, combined with that classic glove made a memorable impression on an entire generation of children. Case in point: While making this figure, I had a terrible nightmare involving Kruger - something that hasn't occurred since I was five years old. :)

I hope you like the figure! I make all my customs ready to be played with or displayed. :)

Happy Halloween everyone!

Thanks. A brush with thick/ coarse bristles, combined with citadel inks work well for me. Since those are discontinued, any dark red paint should work if its dilluted and the brush is held 8-9" away and flicked at the figure.

Thankyou for your praise. I have another Freddy in the works - a 6" ML scale. I'm just waiting on a casting of the AoE Wolverine Burnt Head to finish it off.

Hey guys - thanks for the comments. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
The head is a little large for the figure, but I was going for a tongue-in-cheek motif with Freddy in a spandex costume-sort of thing. I've already got another Freddy (this time movie-accurate) in the works using a ML AoE Wolverine burnt head so he's a little less big-headed looking. I'll have to re-sculpt the mouth though...
Overall I was really happy with how this custom turned out. I achieved the realistic looking blood splatter by loading down a brush with diluted dark red paint, and flicking it at the figure from 12" away x 3 times with different shades of red. My fingers looked like I'd been playing with the inside of a blender after I'd finished, heh.
Thanks for everyone who voted for me during the contest. I'm happy to have received 2nd place.
Cheers,
-Blayne
