While I've still been working on custom figures, I've definitely gotten more into diorama making lately. I really enjoy putting together a scene and seeing how it looks. Like anything else though, it needs practice to be good and this was one of those pieces. I saw this really cool art online of a horror themed Santa coming down the chimney and decided I wanted to use it for inspiration. I decided to take the base idea but make it a bit more macabre and take the Santa character and make him more like the Krampus character in folklore. I went with a more demonic look to make it look creepier. The chimney itself and the Krampus were both completely 3D printed, assembled, cleaned up and painted. I wanted to make both the figure and the chimney look worn but not overly dirty, which I think I was able to do. Both were sealed as well to help protect the paint. The Christmas decorations were dollhouse decorations I found, which I'm happy I did-I feel like they add an extra Christmas "feel" to it all. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I'm still getting used to diorama making, but it was a good practice piece. ![]() |
