Mer-man is a DCSH Parasite body and a Monster Force Creature from the Black Lagoon Hands, Feet, Fins, Gills. LOts of sculpty for his plate like armor. Trident is some fodder I pulled together. I remember seeing "Monster Squad" as a kid and thinking that the gill man would have been an awesome Mer-man for a real life MOTU movie. Thanks for looking, feedback and comments welcome.
NOW THAT IS AWESOME! Very creative way to represent my favorite He Man villian (besides Skeletor). He would be on my shelf instead of the bottom of my aquarium like I did with the MOTU 02 one I got.
Wow, I really appreciate the turn out for the feedback. Thanks for the compliments everyone.. This one had been "in progress" for awhile. I am pretty happy with the finished product. Glennwebman69: I agree that his armor could have reflected the classic look a bit more, especially with the pushing of the design. I actually tried to incoorporate more of the classic look orginally. Even his face had the orange kind of coloring but with the shape of the face it didn't look right to me. Same with his armor, his body made it hard to do. BTW his loin cloth is foamie sheet with earphone wire, cut and glued to look like a fin. I cut out a diamond shape, cut that into four pieces, and glued them back together with earphone wire in between.
Gill Man was a wicked looking character but just thrown away in Monster Squad. I can see the inspiration here and is a vast improvement on one of the weaker MOTU characters. With such a radical redesign of character I'd have maybe styled the armor more aquatic and closer to the original just to tie it all together.
