Hey figurerealm dwellers, long time no see. I've been too busy for any big projects or to continue things I was working on and fallen massively behind because of this I suppose, but here's something I did for the heck of it. So when they released the 2 pack of Captain America and Agent Carter in the new line up of MCU figure's I was excited but also disapointed because it just reminded me that the only Captain America based off the first movie was awful and when the Winter Soldier came out there was a missed opportunity to remake the figure. Upon initially getting the figure I thought he was pretty cool and sturdy but year after year of amazingly better Captain America's and better detailing/ hyper realistic face scanning to make near perfect uncanny likenesses and proper scaling, yeah it's dated beyond belief. So I took a modern Chris Evans helmeted head and carved it up and mixed it with the WW2 helmeted head, Mainly it was merging the year covers and gettign those iconic painted wings on the side of the helmet. Simple Miliput job and lots of sanding and shaping the bottom to be Helmet like then reinforcing with superglue, painting and that was just the head. I took the neck from a Civil War Cap and after slicing off the neck joint of the WW2 body and drilling a hole down I inserted the new neck faily seamlessly. This means he can now have the WW2 head or a Steve Rogers head for unmasked moments. The other major issue of the figure was the height, he's so small. By comparing him to other figure's of Cap I could see that his torso and legs were the issue in length but his arms are good enough, so I looked at dozens of photos as well as re watched the first 2 Captain America movies for insight (not Project Insight!). I extended the body under the belt as this made sense as no new detail would need to be sculpted or added but lengthening the already sculpted torso by adding a bracket inbetween the pelvis and the waist then sculpting the gap to fit the belt. It worked a trick and looks seamless. I did try tinkering with waist rotation but could'nt get it to work and his torso is already able to turn fine so didn't matter that much. The other alteration made was to the boots which I originally planned to swap with modern cap boots or wrestlers boots to keep the WW2 look. In the end I realised that the upper part of the boot is longer in the film so basically I just cut them inbetween the top straps filled the space between and sculpted them making the boot tongue longer, paint, reinforce with glue and repaint. Worked a treat. If you're wondering about the mounted/ carried on back shield it's just a Civil War 2 pack shield I added the straps from the 2012 AVENGERS Captain America figure years ago which allow him to have it on his back. I also ended up getting a Red Skull despite my custom years ago being good I like proper products if I can get them though I had to repaint the head a much more vibrant red as it is in the movie. Got some fun shots of Cap v Redskull and Cap and the Winter Soldier at the end of the movie. I imagine no with the remade Mark 3 Iron Man there is alwasy the possibility of Marvel remaking the classic cap and I'll get him sure but for now it's nice to have a DECENT WW2 costumed Captain America.
