"I'm your ice cream man Stop me when I'm passin' by I'm your ice cream man Stop me when I'm passin' by See all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy" We've seen the unknown story of the heroes of Rogue One, perhaps someday we'll get the big screen story of Willrow Hood, hero of the Rebellion. You see, this cat Willrow is a bad mother-- SHUT YOUR MOUTH! If you don't know who Willrow Hood is, he's that guy running with an old school ice cream maker as Lando and Leia flee Bespin. And that's it. He's on screen for a passing second. But his story goes beyond that. One of the great things about Star Wars is that a noble spirit embiggens the smallest man. Well, actually that's The Simpsons. But like the Tonnika Sisters, or Aurra Sing, a mere seconds onscreen was all it took for a legend to be born. "Attention. This is Lando Calrissian, attention. The Empire has taken control of the city, I advise everyone to leave before more Imperial troops arrive."―Lando Calrissian Willrow worked for A'roFilter, a mining company sympathetic to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, as the head of the department responsible for dealing with the Rebel Alliance, supplying discounted Tibanna gas. Was that an ice cream maker? Nope. In order to protect the Rebellion contacts Hood was responsible for, the miner took A'roFilter's main computer's memory core, as it contained the encrypted information on Rebel contacts. After finding the nearest disposal unit, Hood dumped the entire core, rather than risk it falling into the wrong hands; thus, Hood was able to save the Alliance's interests. Hood remained on Cloud City throughout the Imperial occupation, suffering imprisonment and torture but revealing nothing. So the man that for years was known only as ICMG (Ice Cream Maker Guy) quietly saved the Rebellion and garnered a cult like status. To this da,y, many people cosplay him and his orange jumpsuit and old ice cream maker. No one even knows for certain who played (though I always imagined it was 227's Hal Williams, but that's only my mind). Willrow was made using an enlarged cast of the 3.75 torso and head from Two Suns Casting. The neck peg, shoulder brackets, and lower torso were taken from a Ray Stanz Ghostbusters figure, while the upper arms and legs were from a Black Series X-Wing Luke. Finally, the lower arms were from a Rebel Fleet Trooper and the belt was taken from a DCUC Alan Scott. Who is the man That would risk his neck for the Rebellion? Willrow! You damn right. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
