Both figures were made from a Kenner Butch and Sundance: The Early Days Butch Cassidy Figure. Both have quick-draw action as well as the ability to ride horses (I shall include them below). The hats were made from scratch (Milliput and brims the papier mache method) and some bits were sculpted (for example, Heyes' boot-tops). I was fortunate to acquire the original rubber pistols though I did make some replicas with thin card, Milliput and a drop of UHU glue to make the grips without breaking the figures' hands and able to fit in holsters. Being a fan of Westerns, I had to make those guys. I also made alternate versions of them in their travelling suits only to re-do them ten years later. The series lasted from 1971 to 1973 (as Pete Duel shot himself on New Year's Eve and Heyes was recast as Roger Davies). I enjoyed watching the TV series as this was Glen A. Larson's first TV success next to Battlestar Galactica. Please wait... |
