Satin Musical Performer Civilian
Character:
Satin appeared in Sunbow as a popular musical performer appearing at Cobra lounges. A singer with her own issues against Cobra, she helped Shipwreck and Snake-Eyes.
Design/colors:
Satin’s Sunbow design has already been perfectly by others. I went with the Aayla Secura body as the starting point and adapted the colors to it. The Elektra sash is broader than the one seen in Sunbow, but it makes up for the red taken off of the now-exposed midriff.
Sculpting & Modifying:
The neck ball was cut off and moved to the end of the handle, which was also cut. The tiny hands were cut off and replaced with the better sized Cyclone ones.
The parts make for a modernized take on the character. Others have already perfected the mid 80's source material take on the character, so I went for the update.
The sash was a headache. Paint would not adhere to it. The base grey I used was put down OVER a sealant layer on the rubbery plastic of the sash. Didn't matter. It probably has 14 coats of paint on it, but it still keeps cracking. Lesson learned for the next time I use a Marvel retro sash!
Starting with a semi-translucent "hologram" figure, I didn't realize that the figure's left arm is actually sculpted as if wrapped in form-fitting material. I painted it as bare flesh, but the material scrunching is visible in a few spots.

Decided on this instead, and I'm glad I did.
