Gundala is an Indonesian super hero, cretaed by Hasmi in 1969.

Gundala true identity is Sancaka. He was a scientist who found an anti-electricity serum. Driven by his ambition, he forgotting his lovers, Minarti, which make their relationship come to an end. Realize that he about to lose his soulmate, Sancaka ran home in the middle of heavy rain before accidentaly got struck by lightning. Sancaka, which already injected by the serum he created, wake up form his coma condition and found out that the serum and the lightning combination has altered his body molecule, make him able to control electricity.

When he finally got home, his lover has already gone. And as added misery, Sancaka also found out that he involved in evil plot of Dr.Ghazul, a man who have ambition to take over the country by using him to create an anti-electricity serum that more like an electricity-control serum, so he can change an ordinary human into a super human with extraordinary abilities.

In order to save his life, and more importantly his lover's life, Sancaka hid himself and change his identity as Gundala, a masked hero also known as 'The Son of Lightning', to fight againts the evil plot of Dr.Ghazul. In the process, Sancaka then realized that great power always comes with great responsibility. He then decide to dedicate his life as masked crime fightinig hero, that people known him as Gundala 'The Son of Lightning'.
