Who put the glad in gladiator? Her-cu-les! Here's Marvel's Incredible Prince of Power. Another commission for me. As the customer wanted Hercules to be much larger than the Hasbro offering I chose a SOTA T. Hawk figure as his base. I cut his nose down to give him a broader look and sculpted on the beard, eyebrows, crown/wrestling hat/headband thing, and the hair over it. He was stripped of his vest and I used miliput to fill in the areas underneath. His legs were a real pain. With him wearing trousers I had to sand all that down and then replace his lower legs with ML Thor's. I then used elastic bands to wrap his legs and get the banded look. The Hasbro Hercules figure had obviously just had a tussle with Pluckicles, God of Waxing, as he was totally smooth. Hercules is a proud bearer of back hair and I had to find a way to make him hirsute. His body hair is a mixture of paint effects and sculpted detail. Heavy areas of hair were made using a very thin layer of miliput and then dragging a craft knife and a shaping tool through it to give it a torn surface. Once hardened, drybrushing gave it that hairy beast look. His mace was made from the handle of ML Lord of Asgard Thor's axe. The club end is sculpted from scratch and I had to sculpt a new hand to hold it. The skirt and sash were made from my usual papier mache and the lion's head and belt were fully scuplted. Let me know what you think. ![]() |
