Modred the Mystic (Midnight Sons & Friends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:1553
Name:Modred the Mystic
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Midnight Sons & Friends
Creator:LWes
Date Added:January 13, 2007
Base Figure:Mr Fantastic
Height:6.00 inches
Modred appeared a lot in the "Darkhold" series, first as an opponent, but he later helped them and was on the good guys' side during the "Midnight Massacre" and "Siege of Darkness" crossovers, making him as close to being a Midnight Son without an official membership.
Later he fought them again, and in his last appearance, Doctor Strange sent him to Thailand, and he hasn't been seen since.
He is one of my favorite characters. He's awesome.

For his body, I used box-set Mr. Fantastic. It's a really great body that I'd like to use for several more figures. The head is box-set Green Goblin's, and the ponytail comes from Omega Red. So, after sculpting the hair, I just painted him and gave him Blade's coat. It was an easy custom and I'm really proud of it!

***UPDATE OCTOBER 2007***
I liked my original version of this figure back when I made it, but now that I've gotten a bit better, I felt it needed an update.
I added used FIXIT and Apoxie Sculpt to sculpt straps on the boots and pants with a belt. The jacket too, is FIXIT Sculpt, and I studied many pictures of the character to get details like pockets, straps, belt and those rings on the shoulders.
I also fixed the head so it's placed higher (the neck looked too short before) and I sculpted new hair and a ponytail as well as eyebrows.
And I also replaced the Hulk ears he had before with a pair of smaller more appropriate ears.
I felt he needed to hold something, so since Modred has the power to control the elements, I gave him some fire!
I think it came out great, especially when you compare it to my original version. It's pretty cool to think that it's the same figure, with only a few modifications!

Looks dead on. The only thing I would have done different is paint the boots a different color.

Great paint on the flesh, I hope my Red Sonja comes out as well as that.
