So as soon as I saw this figure, I immediately said "he looks like a drunk thor. " and then I thought: "wait... He looks like thor! " so I scooped him up and took him home. I sculpted his hair to beef it up (or 'feather' it ala 80's style! ) as well as his goatee. Next, I sculpted the boots-a little thick on purpose, and the belt, which came out better than I thought it would. Next I sculpted the chest discs and the belt discs and glued them on. I painted the vest with several layers of blue in varying shades and thicknesses, hoping to creat the illusion of reflected light from the discs. It didn't work out like I hoped, but I think it looks okay. I left the lower torso discs as painted on--I couldn't get sculpted ones that didn't pop off if you moved him. Pants and belt were painted black. The belt then was drybrushed with silver, and the boots were several shades of gray for a texture effect. I added a couple extra sculted straps to the sides as well as an afterthought. Discs were painted with solid white so they really 'popped' away from the clothes. Mjolnir is no kidding a toothpick surrounded by aves epoxy. I sculpted the hammer head separate, in two pieces, and then superglued them together and coated them with a thin layer of aves to smooth it out. Painted black and drybrushed silver over it. Lastly, I used superglue on thor's hands and the hammer grip to shield them from scratching as you put it in or took it out. Enjoy and let me know what you think--I'm sure this is the most detailed I've ever been with what I did to a figure! Thanks! Fitz Please wait... |
