Futura/Ruby Sundown – A complex tale is that of Futura, formerly known as Ruby Sundown. She was once one half of the daring detective duo The Sundown Sisters. Her older sister was Violet-The brain of the team and possessing no super powers. The team is not related to the warlord Rayge Sundown but chose the surname in honor of him as they hail from Tiresia’s largest moon Crimsonskye.

While in the duo, both sisters received lots of media attention becoming celebrities. They had cartoons and publications about them and their earlier adventures. The ride in stardom was fairly long- Ruby was 12 yrs old when she first donned her costume and discovered her speedster abilities. Six years passed and Ruby’s sister Violet hated the spotlight; it distracted her from her cases. Ruby thrived in the public appearances; Violet just sent actresses to stand in her place during these events. Still, it was Violet who remained the most popular. A fact that ate at Ruby’s ego. While Ruby struggled with her issues, Violet had been investigating the tactics practiced by Rayge Sundown during his war campaigns. In the Tiresian public eye, as well as many other planets the campaigns seemed cleaner with minimal bloodshed. Violet Sundown uncovered many truths during her investigation which troubled the Tiresian Empire.

Rayge persuaded Ruby to tell her sister to back off. When that failed Rayge fed on Ruby’s insecurities over the fame issue and even convinced Ruby to take Violet out of the picture permanently. After all it was she, Ruby who had the power, she who saved Violet countless times, she who deserved the glory.

A face-off ensued but not as easily as Ruby thought; Violet was a virtual mastermind countering Ruby’s blindingly quick moves with booby traps. During this battle, a secondary power emerged in Ruby Sundown-that of super strength. Ruby proceeded to use this ability to smash a building on her sister.

The weight of her committing homicide against her sister drove her into hiding for several years. She then settled on planet called Apothocria/Basura a barely habitable junk planet home to dragons, trash, and escaped convicts. It was here that she met Hanx, the ringleader of a strange circus where they put on shows based on medieval times, or at least Hanx perception of them. Hanx brought back the sport of Neo-jousting –jousting with hoverhogs. After helping Hanx establish and popularize the circus, Hanx named her Futura; a knight from the future who thrived in jousting and fighting dragons. She continues to grow in fame as the starlet of the show but longs to set things right.
