Stands around 9" or a little more on top of the base. Took a Marvel Legend size Venom resin bust for $5 and thought of turning it into a full fledged statue. Cut off head(wanted to use the original for a future Venom figure)but made 2 extra headcasts out of it to use on the base (which was taken from a Marvel Select Hulk zombie figure). While I was making headcasts, I made one out of the "scorpion" Venom, one out of a FO Hulk, one from a rotocast Hulk(the head to the far left "venom's left") and one from the zombie Hulk. I sculpted some venom type eyes on these and some tongues. The only 2 heads that weren't casted was the Spider-man orgins Venom head in the middle and the Surfer's head that was attached to the base. I used the legs from a DCD Public Enemies Hawkman and attached those to the waist using a dowel rod and sculpt. I had to replace the hands because after working on this for a few days, it had fell a few times and I was tired of trying to reattach Venom's resin fingers with superglue or sculpt. So, I got the extra hands from Morbius from my fodder box and attached those with small dowel rods and sculpt. These are flexible and won't break, but it had fallen one more time and cracked the wrists so I had to reinforce those areas. I then drilled 14 holes in the back and arms for attachment of the twisty ties to become the symbiote tendrils and coated those in hot glue. I attached all the symbiote heads to the base and randomnly applied hot glue to look like symbiote ooze. I then drilled two holes in the base for feet attachment and made two pegs for feet support. I attached everthing to see what it looked like and now the FUN PART! I primered everything(as I ALWAYS do in some manner) in a gloss black and then started by drybrushing blue over it, hitting all the highspots. After getting it somewhat decent, I used washes of purple and darker blues over him. I then coated it all in a mettalic shine mixed with a semi-gloss sealant. I detailed the white symbiote symbols and then outlined those in black. Detailed the fingernails and the teeth and gums. I used gloss on those(working on the base headcasts at the same time to get them to look similar)...anyways, after a few hours of detailing(several days in my real time of not getting to work on anything much) I sealed it all one last time. Oh, the figure is removeable from the base but it won't be able to stand on its own unless you lean it back against something and the tongue is also removeable. On a side note: No AIRBRUSHES or HAIRBRUSHES(since I'm bald anyways) were harmed in the making of this project. Please wait... |
