The "Twilight" movies are alright...except that they are not the right genre for Vampires and Werewolves. These creatures are meant for HORROR!...not teeny bopper romance stories. Seriously, did anybody get scared at Twilight? Well, I'm all about creatures of the night, and I thought I would eschew superheroes for a while and get back to literary characters. Here's Sir Francis Varney, a little known character from "Varney the Vampire" or "The Feast of Blood" by Thomas Preskett Prest OR James Malcolm Rhymer (Nobody seems to know who really wrote it for sure). I originally started with a different base figure and was making a Victorian age vampire, but then I realized that Varney predated the Victorian age. Varney predates Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and is perhaps a major inspiration for Stoker's novel. Varney was also referenced in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" series. The base figure is an "Alucard" figure from Neca's "Castlevania" series. The head is a chop job combining a Marvel Legends "Dracula" head and a McFarlane "Faces of Madness" "Vlad the Impaler". Fishing line was used on the forehead for the veins. I used the hands and frilly sleeves from the Castlevania "Dracula figure. Please wait... |
