Hi guys. I am new on this forum. I sculpted a Phoenix (Guardians of the Galaxy) figure and would like to know what you guys think of it. I sculpted 2 kind. First one is the one with paint wash while the other one is just plain. please let me know what you guys think. I would really appreciate a response. Thank you.
Yeah mate good work... is this an original character? I like the idea. the one with the wash does look better, and is well done. Maybe a bit dark on the face but its very effective.
The one with the paint wash needs a few more coats of various skin tones. It's usally better to start with the dark color first as your base coat, and then "dry brush" your lighter color on. Dry brushing technique is usually dipping your paintbrush in the paint, then blotting most of it off on a papertowel leaving just a residue of paint, and then lightly "sweeping" over the figure which will leave paint on all the high areas. This technique will give you more of a blended effect. Another thing you can do is paint the light color first. Then water down your darker color (1 drop of water- 1 drop of paint), load your brush, then touch the figure with it and watch the paint run in all the crevices. This will create your shadows on all the muscles and such. I'd only recommend doing that on high detailed figures though. :0)
