Execute order...66...

This trooper was a labor of love, letme tell you. He began his life as fodder awaiting a change into darth vader, as a few other folks have done. But my son pushed me into a trooper. So...I popped off doom's head and replaced it with a horribly done sculpt for a red lantern superboy. I chopped offthe face and rescultped it. I layered on the helmet, trying to get a good match between an episode 2 and episode 3 troop. I usedthe republic commandos game graphics as a reference as well. The helmet came together slowly, and I added a targeting pod to one side.

For the main figure, I heated up doom's chest and sliced off the shirt, and cut off the skirt. I then sculpted-again in layers--the clone trooper armor, adding grooves and making small changes in the depth and cut of the plates. I wasn't going for movie accuracy, but something that could be believably in be-tween the films and the cartoon. I added plates to the upper thighs and lower legs, and to the underside of the arms. Paint was difficult--I used a base of tamiya white primer and washed balck to fill in the plate grooves. Then I added some splashes to 'dirty' him up--he wasn't supposed to be fresh off the assembly line, but battle-hardened!

Lastly, the skirt was an afterthought and is removeable. I had some sturdy poseable wire and material that was white cloth on one side and black pleather on the other. I painted the white side black, and then looped and glued one edge around the poseable wire. I took a strap off a mr. Sinister cape and glued it to the base of the skirt, and some smaller pieces to the top of it. The gun is from some roc g.I.Joe figure-one of the dumb dart-shooters.
