Hey Everyone, I am back. Not that I stopped making customs but it seems like everything I tried to make in the last 3 months just ended up in a plastic baggie marked "Incomplete due to imcompetence" It was depressing and I questioned my skill as a customizer. Then I was inspired by all these really incredible six inch GI Joe customs I've seen pop up on the realm lately. And I saw this contest and I thought "How perfect!" As a kid one of the things I loved most about GI Joe (besides all the cool characters) was all the cool unique vehicles. So I picked my favorite character and a vehicle I thought was fitting and started. CC is almost entirely a ML Taskmaster. The only parts that aren't from Taskmaster are his head which came from a Judge Death figure and his lower legs from a movie punisher figure. I changed Cobra Commander's outfit just a little. I decided that since he was piloting a CLAW I would make his suit look more like a pilot's. So I sculpted over his chest and made a high collar. Gave him a paint job with 3 different blues and he came together rather painlessly. Now it was time to pick a vehicle for the Commander. As a kid I LOVED the Cobra (Cover Light Ariel Weapon) C.L.A.W. And in the cartoons CC used it quite a bit. So I set out to make one. First I would like to say I totally agree with MadTinker. On his custom Serpentor with Air Chariot(which is AWESOME by the way) he said that he thinks that making figures and making robots and vehicles takes to different kinds of skill sets. This couldn't be more true. I found this out by trying to make both a custom figure and a custom vehicle at the same time. So I took a Hulkbuster Ironman glider and decided this was a good piece to start with. I cut both sides off and added wings from a TF armada Jetfire. Then added handle bars are from the Things hover bike. I really don't want to sound like a recipe hog (because it's one of my pet peeves when people are vague about the recipe they are using for a custom) but the rest of it was made from fodder and pieces of unknown TF's I bought in a lot off the BAY I had laying around. Finshed it off with a pair of stinger missles ironicly from a Conquest X-30. I know I left out some of the details (because I didn't want the description to be two pages long) but if you are curious on how I did something don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking. Positive comments and constuctive critiques are both genuinely appreciated. ![]() |
