Superman Curt Swan - Wayne Boring (Masters of the Universe) Custom Action Figure
For this figure ( the likes of which I have made several attempts ((( CHECK OUT MY OTHER FIGURES)) I used the lately popular recipe of hacking a MOTUC He-man and splicing the extremities from the DCU Superman. I have seen all these combinations and had become eager to try it on my own. Here I used the DC Direct Showcase Superman head for its 50's 60's 70's Curt Swan appeal. I never could get that happy medium of huge upper torso and proper sized head (again see my history of this figure in my old posts). The head is the perfect size for this torso, so I was pumped. This is the first time I ever started with a primer coat, I always just slopped in there with apoxie and paint and 'Got 'er Done', This helped hugely in getting the paint consistent… go figure… no pun there. The belt had to stay, I've seen a lot of figures that toss the belt because there is no mechanism to keep it in place… Ah ha HA I say… I take the belt and notch out the hub so it will attach to the waist peg BUT I FLIP it so it is snugging on the lower torso instead of the groin segment. it has a nice natural fit there and doesn't make the legs look like they just pop out of nowhere. The "S" is cut vinyl that is "heat synched" to the chest. The cape is directly off of the same DCU Superman I took the arms and legs from. It is hot glued in place. Once I finished this one.. (which I have not done a custom in years) I was stoked to get it posted on here ASAP. All in all it took me two nights from primer to completion and came together quite naturally, I dig the results. Let me know what you guys think. Please wait... |
