Imagine that one day a Muunilist banker traveled to Naboo to do business with a minor nobleman. He arrived, exchanged pleasantries, met the nobleman's family. He took an instant liking to the nobleman's son; he could sense something special about the boy. The next day, business completed, the Muun prepared to leave. Before he left the planet though, he offered the nobleman's son the opportunity to go with him, to learn the intricacies of the banking industry, to see the greater galaxy. And so it was that the boy left his home world. Imagine that after some time, the Muun revealed to the boy a dark secret: banker was merely his disguise; in truth, he was a Sith Lord. And, if he followed his Instruction and learned from his example, the boy could be as well. Years passed. In the eyes of the galaxy, the boy grew into a man, becoming a shrewd master of business, a cunning master of politics, a charming master of the weak-willed heart. He eventually returned home, put his name into consideration for the duty of Senator, moved onto become his sector's representative in the Galactic Senate. But in his own eyes, the boy grew into a degenerate creature, becoming a deadly master of the lightsaber, a twisted master of manipulation, a heartless master of the weak-willed heart. He eventually returned to his master's sanctum and killed him, took up his mantle as Dark Lord, and then used his powers to drown the galaxy in war. Years passed. The initial fires of war had cooled; the Republic had been re-forged in the heat; it now stood strong as an Empire. And at its head stood the boy from Naboo. Palpatine. Imagine that none of this happened. Imagine instead that a Jedi master had traveled to Naboo, had met with the nobleman and sensed the power in his son. Imagine that he returned with the boy to Coruscant, entered with him into the Temple, raised the boy in the ways of the Jedi. Years passed. In the eyes of the galaxy, and in his own eyes, the boy grew into a man, becoming what he was always meant to be: a master Jedi. Now, there is no war: the Sith has not reared its head, the Republic has not crumbled. This is all thanks to the work of the Jedi, led by its Council. And seated at the head of that Counicl, leading with wisdom and understanding, is the boy from Naboo. Palpatine. Okay, so, there's the background. As for the actual figure… It started off life as a custom super-articulated Obi-Wan way back in 2005 then, with the release of the Pilot OB1, became a Jedi Master Dooku. And there it might have remained, had it not been for my finding out about this contest. I took some parts that I had long been planning on integrating into the Dooku (mainly the skirt), integrated them (Dremmeled off the fabric texture), and then painted the heck out of it. And at the end of the day, I think I'm happy with it. The head took about five tries, and at the last minute some paint splattered on the torso, but I think it'll work. I hope y'all do too.
