to set the record straight, I really think this is a good custom. it does fill the requirements that this contest had. I chose not to post again due to the fact that I didn't really feel like reading another rant about how I contradict myself or put down a customizer. I really do think this is a good custom. I know I probably will be ignored like countless other posts of mine but I do have to say I loathe these page long rants about how wrong I am or how what I'm saying is bad. any ways, I'm sorry you had all this put on your figures post, as a canadian I have no ill thoughts about americans, I think the country as a whole is very proud of who they are. But I hate playing that card because everyone has very personal opinions regarding that topic. Keep up the good work man. And I have to say I am enjoying reading about USAgent in Omega Flight, its brilliant.

Nice job Doc Hawkeye. I see you caused quite the conterverse lol I like the fig but I do find it unnerving that the U.S. picked a Canadian to be the symbol of liberty. But in my book if he came here legally who cares hes as American as applepie. Though his personallity doesn't work with the costume in my opinion.
But its still a great custom and I am amazed at the conterverse.
By the way did I miss something did you recently become a doctor or something? right before I left you added the dr. and now the PhD?

Woah slow down there scooter...Americans have plenty to be proud of. I'm a combat vet and I'm certainly proud of my country. Sure it has problems, sure it's laughable at times, but it's one of the best countries in the world and believe me I've been to plenty that are in far worse shape! Don't make me create a GW mod, and an army of soldier mods to come and kick yer unpatriotic fanny! (hey I know you have some weapons of mass modification hidden in that bunker of yours!) UN schmoo ennn...
As for accents...speak for yourself yankee! I have a very nice Texas accent and hey...don't mess with Texas! You don't like America, get out and make room for someone that does.
This has been a public service announcement paid for by the committee to rattle sabers with a southern accent.

Lol I shoulda guessed the Doom Joe might have been yours, man - but I never guessed you done this
Seeing your reasoning tho - I can appreciate this custom all the more now - it wouldve been really cool if you'd given some insight as to why you did this combo under your backstory man
Nice job anyway bub
And Yeah I'm amazed too no one did a Capital Punishment
I see Deathpool12s submitted a Guardian made out of a Cappy - LOL - the Balance is complete

I took the 2 most oppisite charcters(I didn't want the Punisher/Cap cause I thought some one was sure to make it) and put them together. I had the inital idea when I saw USAgent was in Alpha Flight. I thought it would make a good custom, even tho it was only a repaint-we were aloud to enter those weren't we? Thanks for all the comments from everyone who accually bothered entering the contest( hey 18th, I missed your brilliant entry). This is the 3rd figure I've tried to do (MrX has the second, the 4th is the Doom GIJoe, and despite how it looks, a lot of work did go into it) ) and I think it turned out fine, if a little glossy.

I remember seeing a T-shirt at Gadzooks back when they sold guys clothes too that had Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine all jumping out in front of a big American flag. I was only slightly confused.
I like the idea of this. I'm thinking Logan went: "You want me to wear this?"

Hopefully he gets where most of the guys are coming from now, though I wouldn't blame him for being a bit aggitated. In fact, id be suprised if he wasn't. Like GJ said, if I just came out of the blue and posted my first custom or first custom on the site and people jumped on it, id be a bit bummed. I believe thats happened once before while I've been here, though it was sorted out, we probably could have given a bit more respect then we did.
Long as the creator is clear none of us are trying to put anyone down or purposely screw someone over, I think we're good. The point of having the FR custom section, by my knowledge, wasn't to judge customs in a contest(though we all welcome it) but to show our own creativity and styles to other people and ask for some help here and there so we could get better.
No one likes an asshat

honestly, id be bummed out if someone said my customs are crud. I mean yea its glossy, but can't you just say it like that, "your figure is too glossy, use testors dul cote", its right to the point and constructive. And trust me, repainting a figure isnt as easy especially seeing this custom, the paint apps are clean and smooth, and we all know that's the hardest thing to achieve, no brush strokes, right doc ^_^ (who has contaminated paints...lol) well wha doc is saying, if you have something to say thats a flaw, say it CONSTRUCTIVELY, we ALL started from the SAME place, and we're all trying to get somewhere, and get better. And I doubt calling someones hard work, crud will help anyone get better, not me at least. that'll just p*ss me OFF! and I'm sure a lot of us here will agree! ^_^

That's the point, right there! That's all I was trying to get across in the first place, you can't call someone's work junk AND THEN PENALIZE THEM when they did exactly what they were supposed to do! @_@
Ok, so should I close this topic and play the ending music to Sonic the Hedgehog, Mr. X?
Nah, don think its gotten that out of hand yet...though I wouldn't mind the Sonic music...

Agreed, and thats my two cents here. I think the customs pretty good, though I'm not a fan of the gloss, it still looks good. Let the guy have his custom his way, just don't bash it because it doesn't fit your view of the way things should be(thats not directed at anyone). It was for an ALTERNATE REALITY contest, of course things aren't going to come out the same way to everyone.
Had to smirk at that part

Sigh...
No one should have to apologize for their opinions, agreed, and also, no one should have to put up with guys who want to call everyone's work crud because it doesn't fit their standards of what a custom should be. I understand how annoying it is to read "hey your work is not cool balls, change the paint to this other color". What's the reasoning behind that? You don't like someone's work so it's automatically crud? That's crud. It's rude and it offends the younger members who are just starting out in customizing and kills their self-esteem. They don't understand that you're just trying to help them improve in your own way. They see a guy cussing at their work and they take it as an insult.
That's not your problem that they can't take criticism? You're absolutely right, it's not your problem, but now you're my problem. Now I and the other mods are responsible for your actions. Now we have to monitor and delete the posts of every guy who wants to call everyone's work, that doesn't fit their standards of perfection, crud and pass it off as advice. Now I have to try and explain to little kids and their parents, emailing me and PMimg me, about why we let "people like you" on the site and why we don't tell you to shut up because their kids are bent out of shape becauase they think they aren't good enough to customize. That's crud. You guys think this is just some forum to vent your daily aggression by harassing random people? Or you guys think you're doing everyone a favor by "saying what everyone is thinking"? There's a difference between sharing your opinion and being helpful. Belittling everyone when they make something you don't like isn't helpful. Telling everyone they need to "suck it up" isn't helpful. Claiming your opinion as superior to everyone else's isn't helpful. Why? I'm not a blessed information booth, ask a human behaviorist, I don't feel like typing up another book tonight.
You shouldn't have to feel restricted by this forum's "no bum-hole" policy, just like our members shouldn't have to put up with you guys. And when it comes down to choosing between your right to share your harsh opinion and young members' right to a monkey-free environment, I'm going to choose the kids. You'll find another forum where you can share your thoughts freely, and be praised for your honesty, and be given your own solid gold toilet that goes FWOOSH! when you flush it. I'm all for yelling at people until they get better but that doesn't work in the real-world.
And if you skipped all that, that's okay, here's the frank jist of it. If you can't play nice, then go take a flying jump at the moon. That's all I'm saying, man. Nothing personal, you understand, just trying to keep the forums friendly for the next generation of customizers.
Edit: and I'm really sorry to whoever made this custom, this is why I don't talk much in real life xD

eh I'm mexican and I don't care but plain and simple the paint job is glossy and it seems like every one agrees, but dead eye don't feel bad for makin your "CONSTRUCTIVE OPINION" known , there should be no appologies for that, were all here to get better and learn and enjoy it in the prosses, if you can't take it LEAVE, I said it before and Ill say it again I don't like the custom not because it wolverine not because it red white and blue but because the paint job is janky and I see no real effort in it, and I can care less if the creator is hurt by it, deal with it
I can't stress this enough when it comes to my costums bein judged, be honest and harsh cause I'm not here to be babied about my flaws but to be helped and corrected

And I didn't say you guys were, it does sound like I am though because of how the posts are ordered (nothing I can do about that x_X), I'm really just asking a question, I don't have hidden agendas or double meanings or try to get under everyone's skin when I post stuff (well, I try not to at least :P)
But I don't know, taking away points from a custom because you have a problem with it's history (which isn't offensive at all) just seems kinda blegh (people being proud of their country and all that stuff is great, but it's just one of those things I'll never really understand). I've never looked at anyone's customs that way, if I have a problem with the subject matter (like dragons or zombies) I don't take that into consideration when rating a figure. If it's well-crafted, 4 stars. If it's well-made and looks like the intended character (like basing a figure off a trading card) then it gets a perfect score. If it's an original custom, then I don't see how we can rate it on anything other than the craftmanship. It's an original so we can't say stuff like "It SHOULD be this way" or "It SHOULDN'T be that way" because our thoughts are automatically invalid in this case (the contest). To say "this custom [or it's story] shouldn't be this way" is the same as saying "Even though this is your original concept, my ideas about it are better than yours". But there's no problem saying "hey, I think the colors are too bright or don't match the character" is just fine!
But even if this were just a normal custom submitted to the galleries, I still wouldn't understand the problem, what with me not having a soul and all
^(edited a few times)
Yeah you sold your soul for your LOTR figure collection LMAO
Anyway - how you grade stuff and how others grade stuff is unique to the person - Diversity
Part of what America or any Polyglot nation is all about
No harm no foul - nothing to see here - lets move on
Sorry to the guy who created this - didn't mean to offend you - want to see more from you
but a 3 to me is a "decent" score - its fair for whats offered here

But there's no problem saying "hey, I think the colors are too bright or don't match the character", that's just fine so as long as you don't penalize the person for having an idea different from you, see what I mean?
(But even if this were just a normal custom submitted to the galleries, I still wouldn't understand the problem, what with me not having a soul and all )
The first thing I do when I see something like that is PM the poster and ask them to be constructive. They can say they don't like whatever they want just as long as there is a solid valid reason for saying it (like a messy paint-job, NOT based on something like you hate clowns so you hate all clown customs).

Nightmare and Hawkeye are right - this IS an Alternative Reality contest - but paintwork, backstory, good quality photos (something I've improved upon cos I suck at that) make or break a good custom
Sorry if I offended the creator of this - not my intent to do so
I gave you a 3 for the effort you put in, pal
Decent work - everyone needs some encouragement - I apologise for my initial gut reaction and comment if it offended the creator
Lets move on

Well, yeah, what do Americans have to be proud of? What's uniquely American? Diabetes? Deliberate ecological destruction? We don't even have a cool accent. :[
(And what does it matter what country something is thought-up in? So if a Brazilian guy invented Superman in Pakistan, that would make superman a Pakistani invention? Why would you give credit to the entire country for inventing a character? No one else had anything to do with creating the character, it comes down to the person/people who actually came-up with the character idea. If I made a super-cool comic character, I'd hate it if people thought about it as an "American invention". All Americans didn't create the character, I did, and I don't consider myself American)
For the record I like America
And I think some American accents, especially southern accents are cool from Missouri to Texas and I like A Bronx Brogue - buts maybe cos I have relatives staying there
We aint getting "puffy" Doc - its just an opinion at the end of the day - and its fair comment
I've seen plenty of comments bandied around lately that have been less than flattering to peoples work here in this contest and elsewhere on FR
Please jump in to defend against those too, Doc
It isnt an attack on the creator or Americans in any way
Lets face it - for me (again personal pref) the Xmen Yellow and Blue? - I hated Wolverine wearing too
Its my personal Preference that I don't like gaudy colors and prefer dark colors - but I know thats what I shouldnt judge this custom on
I happened to give it a 3 cos I believe in rewarding effort and I'd imagine it was a chore to paint the colors -
No insult meant to its creator - but this might prove helpful to you in future to make even better customs...
You entered (1 point)
and did a repaint and added a patriot shield(1 point)
and gave a bit of story (1point)-
you warrant 3 points for the effort you put in and 3 is a decent score
Youre two points off a perfect score- well done
More figure resculpting/modification, more story, better quality pics you'd get more points
I aint being nasty or harsh my man - just trying to help you do even better
everyones got to start somewhere and you just get better with practice

Yes, it's an alternate reality, which makes all our opinions invalid when it comes to changing it. The creator made it to his vision and made it darn fine, and that's all that should matter when casting votes. :]

for me personally, we don't have very many cool characters to really go with. I mean there is alpha flight, but all but samsquatch is dead right now. Wolverine is by far one of the most popular characters in comics, and I take great pride in knowing that he is canadian. We may not be as vocally patriotic about our country except if it is brought up, but I for one hold our countries characters(superman was created in canada) very close to my heart. I find it funny that all other american characters seem to lack that sort of pride that I see in wolverine and my fellow canadians.

I agree with deadeye. Wolvie is canadian and I for one would be pretty darn pissed if I saw wolverine in an american get-up. I like the figure though. it seems a lot of people these days are using gloss rather than a matte. They seem to be getting a lot of flack about it too. I think your custom is cool man, all though the site of good old james howlett in the red white and blue kinda makes me wanna scream.
