Xorn (monk outfit) (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:2811
Name:Xorn (monk outfit)
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Legends
Creator:Jin Saotome
Date Added:June 4, 2007
Base Figure:SOTA SF Gen
Height:6.00 inches
After snagging the Hasbro Xorn figure I dug into the character's background because I wanted to know more him. A little searching came up with a ton of confusing storylines (really, he's Magneto one moment, then not the next, then he has a twin brother, really Morrison...) but one thing really stood out for me... the image of Xorn in his white, Chinese monk outfit meditating. Now that was a Xorn I had to make! For his body I used a SOTA Gen, sanding down the clasps on the side and making new ones, including a seam line down the middle. I used Prof X hands, dremelled down the extra Gen head and affixed it under the Xorn mask. The little clasps are cut sections of wire glued on.

Then someone on the boards suggested a maskless Xorn where his head is glowing blue energy. Brillaint! I acetoned down a ML Iceman head and hands, coating them in clear blue and making them removable with the masked head and human hands. I painted him white, added light blue shading, gold trimmed the clasps, and repainted his mask to more accurately match the bronze comic look. Add a repainted Mandrin flame accessory and my 'not-so-Magneto' Xorn was done!

Jin, how did you get Iceman's head to look so clear?
I have one that I'm trying to do the same thing with (trying to get it clear, I'm not making a Xorn though), but I can't get it to look as clear as that. It's mostly just blue.
I think I'm using the right Iceman. You used the one from the 2006 Classics series right?

You use nail polish remover (ACETONE) to get rid of the paint. Just keep rubbing and it comes off.

I think shading with blue on white - gives it a beatific and heavenly look
this is a very cool custom
but despite his outward noble intent - folks should have guessed something evil lurked under that really evil looking mask
love the levitation pose too

I'm still not a fan of shading white with blue, but if you had shaded with black or grey he would definitely lose that bright positive look (assuming you can ignore the freaky helmet of course o_@;; ) Simple but well-done, cool :]
