VENOM (Flash Thompson) (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
First off, mad props to warrack for putting together one hell of a venom! I was almost done this guy when I saw him, I had a glue slip on the leg joint and had to sacrifice a second bullseye for this sucker. Okay so to start off, I sculpted all the main costume detail on arms and legs, a sort of "diagonal striped padding" as pictured in all of the drawings. Then, I swapped out the lower legs for lcbh ripclaw, and swapped the foot from that for a ml cable boot to get that high tread as pictured in the comics. I sculpted shin pads with the proper indents, and modern "quick clips" were sculpted as well as straps, 4 per shin guard. I sculpted knee pads with the apropriate details and rivets. The leg pouch is from the opposite leg of bullseye painted black. His riot vest was constructed using greenstuff and then attached to figure. I created straps and then attached then to figure adding "buckles" where it attaches to vest. The head was a custom cast and resculpt from lcbh star. I sculpted the padded 3 part collart with stitching and rivets. I sculpted forearm guards just like the shin guards with quick clips and straps. I sculpted elbow pads with rivets.Belt is from lcbh ripclaw modded with a hand gun holster on front with stitched look. One thing that was super cool that I did, was that I made shoulder pads, first molded on lcbh star which is pretty much the same figure at bullseye, but the shoulder ball joints are wider. I then removed them once they hardened then my task was to attach them and still have the figure maintain full poseability. To do this I removed the small corner of upper torso "shoulder" plastic just past the riot vest straps. This gave me acces to the "pectoral articulation point" I glued the shoulder pads to this piece, this accurately allows the figure to move the "shoulders" back and forward while allowing you to move the arm up, down, or sideways all the while underneath the shoulder pad, pretty much just like it would be in real life. This really makes this figure seem like a factory thing toybiz would have done back in the day. Oh well. I hope you guys like it, sorry for the mad long recipe, it just was a lot of little stuff. ... Oh ya matching machine guns, very similar to those in premiere issue...Haha thanks for stopping by. Please wait... |
