Skeletor - Fire Armour (Masters of the Universe) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:28716
Name:Skeletor - Fire Armour
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Masters of the Universe
Creator:Darththomas
Date Added:April 10, 2011
Base Figure:DCUC Black Suit Superman
Height:6.00 inches
The latest in my DCUC/MOTU line. Due to the amount of excellent Skeletors going round at the moment I decided I would do this Fire armour Skeletor before I do my Standard one. I wanted him to look close to his original colours but with the snazzy flame effect still in place. Here's the recipe:

Recipe

Base = DCUC Black suit superman

Head = Helmet from 200x fire skely with a ghostrider skull grafted in, filled the whole helmet with hot glue to create peg hole.

Lower arms and hands = the lower arms are composed of three different figures (I'd already cut them for another custom I had planned and had cut them too short for this one). Supes arms from the joint with XMC wolvies lower bits, the hands and armour from 200x fire skely.

Shoulders = unfortunately he has two right shoulders but i don't think it detracts, one from the base figure and the other from DCUC Vigilante I used for trapjaw. There was no way I was gonna sacrifice a whole figure for a shoulder.

Loin Cloth = 200x fire skely

Chest and back armour = 200x fire skely

Pauldrons = 200x fire skely held together with a twistie tie and some flames off HML human torch. The whole assembly sits snugly over the shoulders and is removable so it doesn't hamper the articulation.

Lower leg armour = 200x fire skely

Feet = 200x fire skely grafted onto red and blue superman's feet (Had to dye the joints with a Sharpie) and sculpted armour and flames.

Flame effects = HML Human Torch

Swords = "borrowed from my old Mum-ra custom. Made with Baron Zemo hands, figure packaging and hot glue. Paint brushes for the handles and sculpted bits too.

New weapons = 200x skely swords, staff is fire skely head on a standard havok staff stick.

Updated Weapons thanks to Bobtheodd.

I don't know how I missed this one? I like the the assembly you've done as par to your other motu customs, and the paints are as good as we are use to as well. Most of all I like the thought process behind how you mounted the shoulder armor and flames to retain articulation. Good work.

Thanks everyone,
@Galactape- thanks bud
@BKZ - glad you like man
@Shinobitron - I agree the original is just so awesome, another factor in me deciding to do this one first
@Bobtheodd - thanks for the double comment mate (here and the org.)
@Getsa - Yeah I hadn't even thought of that but I had posted a WIP before the contest was announced so people would have known who it was by. The shading is all dry brushed.
@mmdiego - The swords didn't take that much work as I just stole the one from my old Mumm-ra and cut it in half.
@3bcustoms - thanks man, hope the next one is another success
@chaoszero - I took this for you mate, it's just a hole in each side twistie glued in and flames glued on the top. It is a little visible on the figure but I'd much rather that than loosing articulation

That's one badass Skeletor. Awesome custom man. Do you happen to have wip pics of how you used the twist ties for the shoulder armor? Are the twist ties visible when removed?
