It's been awhile since I've seen the actual Thundercats episode that Safari Joe appeared on, but I seem to remember that he was hunting them to display in his menagerie. I could be wrong here, but the way I remember it Joe was exposed for being a coward when he was forced to fight Lion - O with his bare hands. Due to my affinity for all characters that are Australian (probably due to my Mad Max/Road Warrior obsession as a youth) in origin, I decided to tip the scales back in Joe's favor by making him tiny in stature in comparison to the 'Cats, thereby explaining away any so called cowardice in his behavior. This change in scale is represented here by the difference in size between him and Pumyra, but the same principle applies with your vintage Thundercat figures. I guess this doesn't really excuse him from being a dirty trophy hunter at heart, but hey, nobody's perfect! Safari Joe is like an evil space Crocodile Hunter before there ever was a Crocodile Hunter! Base - Comic 2 pack Red Star Head - Dr. Mindbender Pumyra - from a figure I found in a Goodwill bin, feet from Nira figure Shrunken Heads - McFarlane Voodoo Queen Skulls - not sure but one of them is clearly a predator skull Facehugger - Alien 3 whatever Winona Ryder's character was called accessory Giant Spider - McFarlane Little Miss Muffett Display Rack - McFarlane Texas Chainsaw Massacre girl Base - Stan Winston She Creature Space Critter - Lost In Space girl accessory Space Lobster - weirdly enough I found this on the ground when I was walking around Parrot - from Shipwreck J.A.C.K. robot - I have no idea but Joe had a robot named Mule in the cartoon. Depending on where you are in your alternate universe this guy is either before or after Mule's tenure. Net - from Cadillacs and Dinosaurs figure Dinosaur - Jungle Woman accessory Tribal Shield - McFarlane Voodoo Queen Pool Of Blood - McFarlane Gretel Crates - I think these are WWE accessories but they come apart - the dinosaur fits in one and the space critter fits in the other Well, I think that about covers it! Geez! Thanks for looking ! ![]() |
