I don't think your photos do this custom justice. I think it is a great idea, fantastic choice of figure base, and the head works in perfect scale with it! Paints look pretty solid.
I think you have a pretty good hit list of customs, I think you just have to tighten up your photo work to really present your stuff that much better. Take a spin through the tutorials on the site. They're great in general, but the photo tutorials may be of use to you.
