My set up for photos is two halogen workshop lamps (the kind you can get at home depot or lowes) pointed at an angle at either side of my lightbox, which is an EZcube. I always take pics in a room with no light except the lamps. My back drop is a big piece of pitch black velvet that really absorbs light, and the floor is a piece of reflective black laminate that I also got from EZcube. I turn the white balance setting on my camera to incandescent, and the EV (lightness and darkness setting) to -2.0. That usually blacks out background completely.

by the way, how do you have your lightbox set up to get rid of the shine on the black background? I can't get mine to turn out straight up black in any of my pics

I have the masks on mine repainted, but I should really think of painting their skin tones too.

looks beautiful, have to agree with you would have liked to see the colors switched between leo and don, but still great. are you going to try and do another set?
