Ah, my old friend, it has been too long. I really, really like this figure. DP is one of those characters, who like Spiderman, just lends himself perfectly to a stylized, cartoony aesthetic. This guy is inspired by two sources: Brave009's Skottie Young DP (Brave does some really, really awesome stuff, i suggest checking out his deviantart), and Wades appearance in Hulk vs Wolverine. The base figure is Hellboy Animated Abe Sapien, which was ridiculously cheap on Amazon. Had to remove all his fins and sand down his head and torso. Then laid on the sculpt. I tried to give him the impression of angular muscle without going over board on in, and added some muscle to the inside of his upper legs too. Sculpted his harness, wrist and ankle bands, and his holster. The holster came out awesome. The pistol that came with Abes actually "clicks" in, and its not going anywhere unless you want it to. Made him a cartoony sword out of styrene, I based it off of Samurai Jacks katana. He does have two sets of hands, one set for holding his weapons, and a really cool set of expressive hands. I prefer the expressive ones. I held off on doing anything like sculpting or fishing line to raise the lines of his costume, I wanted to keep it looking sleek and slightly under detailed as it might in an animated appearance. I really wish I had one of those animated Spiderman figures to take pics of this guy with, I think they'd work really well together, especially since this figure is technically in the 7" scale, so he'd be appropriately taller than Spidey. Anyways, its always welcome when a figure comes out just the way you want it to, so I'm really pleased with this guy. Enjoy!
