Movie Master Batman, Misc Parts, Original Sculpting.
Height:
6.00 inches
This Batman is made from a combination of parts, all dremmeled down to cater to my own sculpting. The head is sculpted from scratch and not hydroshrunk from any other work. I made sure to go out of my way and put details you don't normally see in any custom figure. The slight roughness in the armor, the cowls nose holes, a separately attached utility belt, all the back armor and even the zipper on the back of the spandex undersuit.
I know the Keaton suit up and down back and front. Im normally a statue sculptor and will be going into greater work with 6 inch figures as I find it challenging to put 1:6 scale details into a smaller 6 inch scale. I will be introducing real materials into my Batman work aswell. I have numerous great things up my sleeve so stay tuned!
I created an account here to warn others about Shadow Sculptor because I don't want anyone else to go through what I did.
I paid Travis Perry / Shadow Sculptor / Spidey2007 for a Keaton Batman figure after seeing his work on http://www.figurerealm.com and other forums. Before I paid him, he told me he already had a headsculpt, and the figure was 40% done. So, I paid for it in the first week of February. But, over a period of months, Shadow Sculptor gave me one excuse after another, but did not complete my figure.
Finally, I got fed up and asked for my money back. He refunded me most of it in May, and I received the last part of my money on 7th July (and I feel lucky to have received it back because I was worried he would keep it, when he didn't reply to my emails for nearly a month).
Just search Google for: "Travis Perry Batman Custom." The first thing you'll get is a SuperHeroHype forum discussion between people who have faced similar problems from him, titled: "Anyone pay for a custom from Spidey2007 / Travis Perry?"
No wonder he keeps changing profiles. I only wish I'd seen other people's feedback of him before I paid him. My advice is don't buy customs from him unless you're willing to wait for months, even years (as one of his customers commented).
I'm a huge fan of the first two burton bat films, and man you have just done such a great job on this, did you just shalack micheal keaton?!?did you hire a taxedermist and stuff him?!?it looks so much like him its insane!professional sculpter?no fair!jk. this is my all time favorite batman action figure ever, its really amazing, this will get so many compliments and it will be nuts, but all well deserved, really really great job, welcome to the realm!
Yeah those emblems ARE a pain. I recently did a RETURNS figure and a 1989 figure. For the 1989 one, I just couldn't get the bottom of the tail just right. You know those extra little cuts. You did is masterfully and I wonder how much time you spent on it!. The RETURNS symbol is easier b/c it doesn't have those extra cuts in the tail. For me, the hardest part was the belt buckle. Lastly, do you ever go to BatmanUnmasked online? If not, it's a great site for suit pics and stills.
Oh yes! I have various secrets to my belt buckle making that makes it a lot smoother. The emblem did take me awhile, its more preparation than anything on that front. I've religiously studied the 89 suit for over 9 years and I have certain contacts who know more than anyone could about the Keaton suit haha. So I'm pretty lucky on my info. If you want to know some cool things just Email me at shadowsculpter@hotmailcom. In fact I could help you with some belt buckle and Emblem issues if you wish. And Ill send you exclusive pictures and info as well.
Batman Unmasked is great for basic details indeed, but there is so much more about the Keaton suit that makes it the most interesting and unique Bat Suit there is. Its my personal favorite.
Thanks for the comments and love guys! I REALLY appreciate it! Its a major confidence boost haha!
I have to say every part of this fig screams awesomeness, I love the talent and skill shown. If you wish you could also post your in depth description on the forums here. Welcome and keep up this epic work, totally awesome (also not a fan of batman in the movies, more a comic/cartoon fan).
Yes Ill be attempting much more Batman incarnations in the near future, Including Batman Returns, Forever and Adam west Batman! All in the form of this Keaton, Original Headsculpt with attention to the fine details of each incarnation. Itl be fun! Thanks guys!
this is a beautiful custom figure! thanks for sharing your work and amazing talent with us. It's a pleasure to view such breathtaking work... That being said, although I love that Batman: The movie, I never did understand why they felt the need to change the bat symbol on his chest logo. I love that costume, nonetheless and you did an amazing job. It looks like a Life size wax statue shrunken to action figure size!
Hey and welcome! Started watching this on the big "E" today. Gotta say this is one of the best I've seen. Sure would be cool to see a tutorial on how you added the slight texture to the cowl. Until I read your description here, I assumed you had hydroshrunk at least the torso armor and head/cowl. Finding out it's sculpted from scratch is neat. What materials do you use by the way? A lot of us use either Apoxie Sculpt or Super Sculpey. Great job on a terrific custom and welcome to the Realm!
Yup, thanks! I did use a combination of all the best stuff. Aves, Keadatite, and Sculpey for my head. I sculpt, dry and cast my stuff so its in good order for play. Yea I don't like Hydroshrinking things, Its just too obvious of a shortcut and brings down the figure overall in my eyes.
I see you around Fwoosh, I'm there now And Ill probably post some WIP pics and insight there eventually Th Emblem was definatly the hardest part haha, that is smaller than my pinky fingernail and sculpting it almost made my eyes explode!
Wow! Just wow This is the best keaton custom for this scale besides the one by matt here at the realm. Then again, you are a professional sculptor lol. Anyway, beautiful job man!
Stunning. Absolutely Stunning. I am not even a fan of ANY of the movie Batmans. But this figure really made me stand up and take notice!! The sectioned, scalloped cape is literally breath-taking!! And that head sculpt is superb!! An AWESOME piece of work all around!!
