Ack, that original grey looks bland, great repaint!
I didn't expect this repaint to be more of a discussion if it's a custom.
well anyway... ill post more pics of him and see the comparisons.

As far as I can tell, DJ only meant that he thought it wasn't a custom because he thought it wasn't modified in anyway. Obviously he hasn't seen the original figure like you guys have, I haven't seen it either, this didn't look like a custom to me either, but then I noticed the shading and figured it was a repaint.
To me, ANY change made on purpose, no matter how big or small, warrents a figure as a custom. You are taking the original figure and modifying it your way, even if your way is based on someone else's work. Rateeg took the figure and modified it using a new color, one he thought would make it look better. In this way he changed it and made it original to a degree. Sure the exact level of customization may not be on a grand level as we would normally think(completly new sculpt, yadaa yadda) but its still a change.
Besides, even a new paintjob can make all the difference in the world. Just look at Ratboy's repaints. With his techniques and skill, the repainted figures look ten times better then the originals.
Anyhow, we're all entitled to our opinions whatever they may be. Maybe explain why you don't think it counts as a custom and we can understand what you mean that much better.
Looks good though Rateeg. Can't say I've seen the original figure yet but I think the yellow you used looks like the movie version.
BY THE WAY RATEEG nice paint app. Do you know that a repaint of a BB REPLICA sells more than a hundred dollars on a website? Your work is just as good (if not better). some people just don't know how difficult it is to paint flat surfaces as compared to rounded ones. highlighting is limited so you can only rely on washes and a steady application of paint. You pay a lot of attention to detail by applying dark washes in spaces and crevices. this creates teh illusion that the figure itself is highly detailed. not to mention the patience needed to apply proper masking when dealing with spray paint medium. this part is what I mostly appreciate.
thanks punstarr!
