Lantern Vath (DC Direct) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:3471
Name:Lantern Vath
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:DC Direct
Creator:greymonk
Date Added:August 2, 2007
Base Figure:Superman
Height:6.00 inches
Vath is a rough looking lantern. A brawler by nature he's been paired up with Isamot the Lizard type lantern.

Let me start by saying this figure would not be possible if it hadn't been for the kind donation of Ratboy - who gave me the base figure.

I started with a Superman, filled in the cape holes and sanded a bit. Then shaved off the superman hairdo, sculpted on the scar and the "Ranger rug" hairdo out of Apoxysculpt. I then sculpted the ring with a tiny amount of greenstuff. I'm working on an Isamot to go with him but still waiting on some of the parts to arrive. Hope you like it thanks for looking!

Yes please, tell us what green is it! Like many others, I like that paint to my own GL
OK the brand of paint is called "Decoart" Acrylic paint. The color I use is called Crystal Green as the final drybrush coat. I use something called "Christmas Green" for the shadow coat. It goes on kind of creamy smooth and dries very thin almost like it was airbrushed on. nice thing about it is zapping it with a flat clear coat does NOT negate the metallic finish which is VERY unusual! I get the stuff at Michaels for $1.27 a bottle and it has a bit of latex in it or something because it is kind of rubbery when it dries completely allowing you to use it on soft plastic too. the "Lamp Black" color is what I use for the black on the uniforms and it's so dark flat black it almost absorbs light. They also have a metallic black that looks very similar to the green as far as the shimmer goes I just thought that would be over doing it a tad on the lantern uniforms. Have fun and hey - leave some on the shelves for me!!

Another awesome Lantern piece by Greymonk
Great use of an otherwise so-so figure, man
I love his face especially - thats a seriously hardcore Lantern right there - great resculpt and paint
as for these "manacles" doc was talking about - theyre called "bracers" to give their correct term
Making them 3D or just painting them is both good - as the Lantern bodysuit is a hardlight hologram according to the JL & JLU tv show continuity allowing lanterns to change in an instant
We see John change thusly into his costume
I like the green bracers with the black gloves better than the white gloves to be honest - its one of my favorite costumes that John stewart wears
Excellent work overall my friend

you know doc, it never occurred to me that those were manacles! makes sense though. I just thought it was a wierd part of his uniform, and thought it was odd he had no white gloves like other lanterns. I might just go back and redo that, thanks for the observation I am grateful! (well and a little embarrassed too but mostly just grateful)

Awesome head! Sculpt the manacles next time though, they look like they're part of the suit when you only paint them. (unless that's what you were going for xP)
