Warstar (Incredible Hulk) Custom Action Figure
Hasblo will probably get around to releasing some figures of the X-Men's perennial pains-in-the-butt, the Sh'iar Imperial Guard, around the 16th of NEVER! To fill the void in my X-Men collection, I decided to make my own Warstar figure. As per the comic books, Warstar is a symbiotic pair of androids w/ artificial intelligence. The smaller of the two, B'nee, connects to the larger C'cil by a socket in C'cil's back. During battle, B'nee can separate from C'cil to fight. I used Mecha-Hulk as the base for C'cil. Funny thing about the Mecha-Hulk figure: besides being green (like Warstar) and being a huge robot (like C'cil), it already has a compartment in its back to hold this little gremlin-type figure. After evicting the ugly gremlin guy, I expanded this compartment using my trusty Dremel, and I cut a hole in the top of the hatch. Into the resulting socket I was able to fit a 3 3/4" Gi Joe Overlord figure. This GI Joe figure works like a dream for B'nee; not only b/c of its smaller size when compared to the Mecha-Hulk figure, but also b/c of the narrow waist it has. As a result, I was able to keep small the opening to the hatch. I used Apoxie Sculpt to craft a head, hands, and feet to resemble C'cil's; and to craft B'nee's head as well. Metallic green paint tied together the color scheme. I 'coated B'nee to protect his paint job from being scratched when he is placed in or out of C'cil's back. B'nee is a little small, but I had to sacrifice size for the gimmick of him actually fitting inside C'cil's back like the actual comics character. Please wait... |
