This one cost me a little bit of my finger. Anyways I started with a regular old cap. I split him open and took off his star, took the buttons off of the jacket thing as well as the boots. After all that was done a repaint was in order. I used the head from a Captain Jack Sparrow figure, modifyed to fit the joint on the neck. I sculpted the hair and painted on the face. The jacket is from a MU Scarlet Spider. I think I've said it before but he's a great figure and I'd totally recommend it for customizing or even just display. The arms are from a military figure at Target, again great figures, less articulation than I'd like, but still good for getting accessories. ONE MORE THING!! If anyone has any tips on painting jeans or getting good flesh tones, let me know. Thanks, and have a nice day! Please wait... |

Jeans: A base coat of the blue color you choose. Second: a wash in black or a much darker blue. Third: A drybrush in the original blue you used for first layer. Fourth: A very, very light drybrush in white only in certain areas of the paints.
Skin tones (caucasian): A base coat of flat flesh tone. Second: a wash in medium skin tone. third: Drybrush in flat again.
Hope this helps, and you can check out my work on painting jeans and skin tones, specially in my wolverine/Logan customs, so you can decide wether to follow my advice or not.

As for skin tones, that really depends on exactly what you're going for but if you have a flesh starting color, then you can add white, red, orange, yellow and numerous other colors to make it lighter or darker. I've always found it best to just experiment with colors when trying to find the right flesh color. Hope this helps!
