I have yet to use a buck DCUC base so I didn't know about difficulties that comes with using it. But this custom really looks worth the trouble because it is immensely superior to the factory released one. I love that red!!!

Great figure way better than what Hasbro threw at us, that was just awful! And you know whats really funny about some of the new MLs is how cool Mcguinness' work looks on the package and even though the figures are not based off his work you see Claws crappy figure and then Mcguinness' awesome illustration of Claw. You can't help but feel empty inside!

while I'm not really a huge fan of mcguinness' work, I do like his portraits for the new ML boxes, and yeah, in some cases they are outclassing the figures.

haha, "buck" is a term used to describe a base body that is made with the intention of re-use. Also, thanks!

Nice job I find the best way to stop is sand down the shoulder joint then rebuild it with sculpt, for some reason the shoulder joint does not ever have paint Mattel just makes them in the coulor they want

This figure does look really good, and it says a lot comming from me. I cannot stand the DCUC figures. Not because of paint rub but because 99% of them are all the same size. I am a huge fan of figures that are in scale with eachother. Good looking Klaw for sure though.

yeah man, watch out. I feel like the worst offenders are the elbows (not the disc itself, but the area on the lower arm that runs against the upper arm when you bend it), and the shoulders (not just the discs, which are bad, but also the part of the shoulders that rub against the inside of the torso)

I have a slew of DCUC bucks but have yet to use them for that reason alone! Your dead on with Klaw! Way better than ML body they gave him! I just wish the DCUC had more artic. Try a ref reflector or otherwise filtering the light. I have decent results that way and I do love red customs! Awesome work either way bro! I've been a fan of yours since your first customs on the realm. Seeing yoi're name on my realm page is the main reason I checked out the customs tonight!

I'm flattered, thanks so much Red. Its really a shame, cause the head and gun are really well sculpted, but the body just lets them down. Even the bullseye body, which I normally hate, would have been a better choice.

I like this over the ML figure for sure! In the end your paints do look great, especially knowing what a light shade you painted over (I bet that didn't help-yuck!). This is the first new ML DCU crossover figure I've seen, so way to break the cherry on that one, and doing it in style too!

Here I am sanding a DCU buck thinking the same thing, taking a break on purpose to get away from the problem, and look at all the people sharing this sentiment. I find most people working with these try to stick to figures of the same colour, like a manhunter, or orion would of helped you in the red department, but I also find I end up sanding the entire figure... what a pain!
I find the capes and jackets and are even worse because of the glossy material. I have a DCU Grundy base I'm working on, and it's jacket is even worse than the body, I find I have to sand the capes and coats more so than the bodies, just so they will even take paint.

Buzzy Fret has several tutorials on breaking down the entire DCUC body to get the best out of it. I still do not like doing it. Something always goes awry in my experience. I end up breaking something or messing something up. Using the same color body doesn't even help me, because I paint over it anyways and end up still sanding it(Like Pulpy said). In the end, the results are amazing if you can disassemble these figures and have them with no paint rub. I try to stay away from sanding on their rubber accessories like capes and jackets. I've ruined a couple but I hate those mold lines on them! I have repaired some by sanding off the lines and making tears or small holes in the rubber, have to fill it with superglue and then sand back over that till it's smooth. Use fine grit sandpaper. Vallejo makes plastic putty, but I haven't tried that yet. Oh, to help the rubber materials take paint try using a paint primer. I sometimes brush on the PRIMER made by PAINT FOR PLASTIC by PLAID. It's specially formulated to add adhesion to flexible plastics. BTW...love this conversion! I hated the KLAW figure also and matter of fact don't even remember where I put it that's how much I liked it.

looks good man!! yeah DCU bucks take quite a bit of sanding to stop paint rub, but I think they take really well to acrylic paint, I find I don't have to use as many coats as I would on a TB ML. keep em coming dude!!

thanks man. I feel the opposite about its ability to take paint, especially the torso parts. They did not seem interested in taking paint at all... maybe I just need to work with them more, but man, it was just such a pain. My hat is off to people who work with them more.
