Alright guys, this is my 4th take on the Man of Steel. My first really doesn't count as a completed item since it was uploaded before the full body shots had been revealed, so technically this is version III… but lets move on.

This figure is made with a combination of WWE figure parts. The head is from a Texas Tornado figure with the hair completely re-sculpted, The torso is from a standard figure so that the new webbing wouldn't interfere with the articulation. The lower torso is from an elite figure to allow for optimum articulation.

As with true versions I & II the cape top is sculpted for image control. The bootlaces and details have been dremelled off and boot tops sculpted. The "S" shield is sculpted on in 2 layers. First the base diamond is sculpted on and trimmed out. I let it dry and then come back with layer 2. Once I have exacto'd out the shape of the "S" I remove the knockouts and then I textured the pliable layer with fabric. I smooth it over the "S" and then remove leaving that nice web pattern. I'd really like to do this to the whole figure but I think the process would become distracting. The webbing is sculpted onto the torso as ONE BIG LAYER. Then I trim it out and go back to detail with exacto and dental pick and some other tools I have for small detail. Webbing is continued to the lower torso and legs.

The entire piece is primed and we go in with paint… Bright colors first!! Yellow (dulled with white), Then white for eyeballs, skin tone (paled with white), Then reds (darkened with black), then Blues (mixed with black and yellow), then black (mixed with my darkened red) …. Voila!!! Cape is a bright red polyester that is misted with black spray paint to give it a darker tone. Hot glue seals the deal and Man of Steel is ready to fly…

This is actually being given away at the Metropolis Illinois Superman Celebration as part of a 3 prize running. I'm throwing an "Easter Egg" hunt and this is 3 of 3 prizes.

Thanks for looking everybody!!!
