Crossbones (Modern V2) (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
This week my local TRU flooded the front of the store with Marvel product. Oddly enough, very little of it was actual avengers merchandise. Most of it was figures from the last three movies. Just tons and tons of armored avenger figures. I counted 17 Crimson Dynamos. It was nuts. Anyways, there were also quite a few 3.75" Captain America figures put out, including Crossbones. I had never seen that figure in person, and DAMN, its awesome. Not awesome enough to get me to buy it since i'm not big on that scale, but it made me really really want an ML scaled one. So i went to the wrestling aisle where i knew some of those legends 2-packs had been languishing for a while, and picked up the one with the two red neck looking guys, cause they had perfect lower bodies for this. I got him home, looked up pics of the 3.75" figure, and got to work. I sculpted the head (which i don't mind doing when there are basically no facial details), sleeves, kneepads, and vest. I think the head is maybe a little too big, but only from certain angles, and its a lot more noticeable in pictures than it is in person. Covered him in fodder pouches, grenades, and magazines, spliced together a couple assault rifles into one cool looking one, and gave him a leg holster from kamandi. He is much shorter than the official figure, and looks much more in scale, though i wish he was a little buffer in the shoulders and arms so that he would look a little more "comicy". As it is with his more subdued proportions, i think he looks like he would fit in better with movie scaled figures. Please wait... |

Did you sculpt all the detals in at once? Or was it done in layers?
I've been using Aves Apoxie for some months now and I hope to one day achieve the level of solid detail that you so masterfully accomplished on this figure.
