Cyclops (X-Men) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:3927
Name:Cyclops
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:X-Men
Creator:rateeg
Date Added:September 5, 2007
Base Figure:FO CAP, XMC CYKE
Height:6.00 inches
this is custom was heavily inspired by the best jim lee cyke ever created.
it was done by a filipino who resides in new jersey, "doubledealer" is what his famous name is.
I am a big x-men fan since the jim lee days way back in the early 90's so I have to own the best jim lee cyke figure, tho I can't own doubledealer's cyke custom so I decided to make one for my own collection.
I never realized how hard this custom was done by doubledealer until I had the chance to try it myself, it took me atleast a week to finish him.

oh I just read the crit on your cyke. fat cheeks and cankles. hmm they look pretty fine to me. Bigger calf muscles would help. But the figure is nice enough as it is. Plumbers putty works pretty well. am trying it now on LCBH Savage Dragon. But I'm more used to carving though. thanx for the tip.

that is so flattering man, coming from one of the best customizer in the world.
I've talked to 2d about borrowing his recipe for the cyke, he hasnt commented yet on my work cause the man is going thru a lot lately and havent logged in since. but he's all good.
thanks again, loose.

ey, buddy! I'm not one of the best bro, just a simple guy trying to make some customs.
anyways, that clay stiffens around 1 to 2 hours. you have lot of time to edit the sculpt, that is why I love this stuff. tho, you have to practice how to use it, I've learned a lot on my almost 2 years of using this putty. thanks man!
and BTW...
thanks folks who commented on this thread. you guys rock!!!

hi kyle. thanks for the comment.
hmm... maybe I won't agree with the cheeks being fat, what doubledealer did was to make the head proportioned to the body. believe me, if we stuck with the xmc cyke head without modifications, it won't work pretty well with the base body, that is why I sculpted more hair too. I think that's what 2d would answer too to your comment. FO cap has a big upper body. that is why it needs a well proportioned head.
here's the wip:
about the canckles, maybe the FO legs are just too bulky, I would have dremeled the legs even more.

I don't see cankles at all (I think the base figure just didn't have much in terms of sculpted ankles... you can't blame the base fig on the customizer), but I agree about the face... something just seems too cherubic and childlike about it. He needs to look more like a man than a boy. I absolutely adore your work rateeg, but this one's not my favorite.
That said, I really dig the slight sheen his uniform has.. gives it a unique and cool effect.

absolutly stunning there rateeg. Just about as good as 2D (who inspired me to make my jim lee guys too)
I have 2 small crits if you don't mind... First is the same thing I didn't like on 2d's Cyce.. the cheeks, I think they look to fat, well, not fat but broad like Kelsey Grammer
and the second crit would be the Canckles. they look to need some TLC, or maybe bigger calves.
none the less, I wouldn't even worrie about it cause I would be proud to own this peice.
