Here is a custom of one of my favorite Transformers characters Grimlock. Grimlock is primarily just a repaint of the Classics figure with the shoulders reversed, so that the screws are not visible in robot mode. The gun is from the original G1 Grimlock and I also gave him the Sword/Gun from the Pretender Grimlock, but did have to drill the right hand so that he could hold it. After all Classic's Grimlock is actually an update of the Pretender version, and not the original G1 Grimlock :)
Hm yeah Grimlocks should never be anything less than voyager sized. :P I really didn't like the legs on this figure either but yeah the paintjob on yours is fantastic. I really like AoE Voyager Grimmy and am tempted to do a repaint of him. Just pondering whether I want to go movie-accurate silvers or a G1-esque version like from the exclusive boxset thingy. Or maybe I'll buy another one and do one of each. Need me a dual blaster like G1 Grimmy has and a big sword too.
Thanks I'm with you right there with being disappointed with this figure when it first came out. The original colors where just so bland. They could have done so much more with it if they would have designed it in the Voyager class size, but at that time they didn't want to make robot dinosaurs because nobody wants that
Dude, I have both versions of Grimlock, the Henkei version and the Deluxe Classic version, I know lot of people love the chromed painting but sooner or later is condemned to chipping off (and more if you touch a lot the transformer), so what you did here is fantastic, this Grimlock, looks like Grimlock. Excellent job! Now we'll have to wait to see The Fall of Cybertron Grimlock version and maybe a nice Swoop too. The colors and the final result are perfect!
Thank you very much I actually passed on the Henkei version on that very reason. I also think that they went a little to crazy on the vacu-chrome on some of the Henkei figures. I've always liked the look of metallic gray on Dinobot figures. I was going to do the same on my Hasbro Fall of Cybertron Grimlock, but ended up leaving it factory after getting Takara/Tomy version which is painted up in the same colors as my custom
