Ga-Ree is part of an underwater, subterranean population, also known as the Murexian tribe, which are direct descendants of Gary from Earth. One of their ancestors crossed from Earth to Eternia via an underwater wormhole located miles underwater. Ending up in the deep underwater caves of the sea of Rakash, he slowly morphed into a bipedal gastropod. Eternia's magical properties allowed this once simple-minded creature to evolve both physically and mentally. As time passed, this ancestor was able to reproduce asexually, giving birth to what would be known as the Murexian tribe of warriors. They roam the underwater caves of the sea of Rakash using their bioluminescent younglings as a source of light. As they mature and evolve to bipedal form, they loose their bioluminescent properties. Oftentimes, Mer-men battle against the Murexian tribe. In the rare instance that a Murexian warrior is killed, the Mer-men remove the warrior's shell chest-plates to wear as trophy. Mer-man proudly wears one from a leader of the Murexian tribe that he had killed in battle. Ga-Ree was chosen by his people to fight alongside the Masters during times of war. Body - MOTUC TRU Mer-man Head - Sculpted over a Stratos head. Most of the head has been covered. Left eye is a rhinestone to replace an eye lost in battle. Right eye is a Jequirity bean, which I painted over to resemble Gary's eye. Shell - The spiny sea shell was part of the inspiration for initially working on this custom. Mother Nature knows how to create some beautiful things. This sea shell has so many exquisite details, I just had to paint it! :) I also added a small magnet inside the shell and one underneath a glow-in-the dark 'youngling' snail so that it would attach itself to Ga-Ree's shell. Breast-plate - I took Mer-man's chest piece and modified it a bit to make the shoulder pads looks spikier. I permanently attached it to the sea shell to give it the illusion that it's all one piece. Hands - I used the hands of a Red Lantern Nite-Lik I had lying around. I sculpted a couple of spikes on each. Belt - I attached a tiny Starro that I had lying around to the belt and painted it pink as a homage to Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants. Feet - I used Count Marzo's boots and sculpted over them to try to make the feet look like the bottom part of a snail. I also added some rhinestones to the 'shell' part of the boots. Body war paint - I just had to give Ga-Ree some war paint. If you look closely, you'll notice a pineapple and one of those floating stars that you would see in the background of the Spongebob cartoons. Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Definitely not this dude! Based on the snail character, Gary, from the Spongebob Squarepants cartoons, I give you Ga-Ree! I sincerely hope you all enjoy him. Completed June 30, 2012. :) Thank you all for looking! ![]() |
