After much work, and a LCBH Wraarl and DST Death Dealer statue to build upon, here's Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer. I tried to depict a blend of the Death Dealer II and III paintings. The "chainmail" skirt has floral wire in the seams, so that it can be posed in a variety of ways.
Thanks . Painting the figure is usually the part I like the least, so I'm glad to hear if looks ok. I was thinking some might say that I should have used a darker palette, but I was in fact hoping for a sort of ghostly, ethereal look to it.
beautiful. I went back and checked out the paintings again too now that its done and I love how the shading on the arms looks just like the shading in the painting, tone and texture. you captured him perfectly.
Thanks buddy. I did try to match the colors from the paintings. I'm glad it looks like I was successful with the arms. it may not be visible in the photos but the belt has a bronze wash and the decorative skull is in a metallic white and silver mix to try to match the hues of the painting. I decided to go with greys and bluish greys for most of the clothing, since it's difficult to tell exactly what shade they should be. I cut the cape and added the shoulder things as a sort of homage to the DST statue. The one thing that I did not add was the necklace, but I'll probably create one eventually.
Thanks dude. I will. I used the head off of a statue instead of casting it, because it's made from pvc plastic and with the right Dremel attachments it can be machined to fit on the Wraarl body just like it was made for it.
