After an encounter with a Nanotech enhanced terrorist, Stark was left critically injured. To save his life, Stark injected his self with the same Extremis nanobots in a desperate effort to save his own life. At the same time, he took the chance to upgrade his physical body...

Stark is now capable of directly interfacing with technology through his thoughts. The nanotech also granted him an advanced healing factor - thought to at least rival Wolverines' - that, because of the specific way it works, effectively makes him immune to cancer. He also stores the undersuit of his armour in his bones, it emerging trough access points on his chest and back.

There are times that Stark worries that, perhaps, he has gone too far - that people with his sort of power, that metahumans in general, should be answerable to the Goverment, and should register their powers...
